On March 13th LIFE REFRESHMENT and LIFE BEVERAGE participated at a workshop organized by Deloitte called “How to finance your sustainability with grants and incentives”. To this workshop a targeted number of companies, from widely different sectors, were invited to share with them the opportunities to fund sustainability projects in Europe and Belgium.
The session started with a presentation of Tom Verheye, head of Unit, Industrial Emissions and Air DG Environment, European Commission explaining the different initiatives for sustainable development: the 7th Environmental Action Plan, Agenda 2030 and presenting the Multiannual Financial Framework and the LIFE programme 2014-2020. This was followed by a more detailed contextualization by Deloitte of the LIFE funding for sustainable and environmental projects.
Steffen Muench, global director research and technology transformation, talked about sustainability at AB InBev and the Better World programme at AB InBev. Jorge Gil-Martinez and Han Vandenbroucke presented the LIFE REFRESHMENT and LIFE BEVERAGE projects and shared their experiences with the further follow-up of the LIFE grant after it was assigned. Afterwards, there was a Q&A session during which other companies were able to ask specific questions regarding their experiences with the LIFE funding. The second part of the afternoon was dedicated to the different possibilities existing for local funding. The workshop ended with a reception and networking session during which representatives of the different companies could interact more closely with each other.
