Effective solutions for prevention and treatment of food waste

María Elena Hernández from BDi Biotechnology attended on 8-9 October 2018 the LIFE food waste platform meeting held in Budapest (Hungary).

The meeting was hosted by the National Food Chain Safety Office Hungary and the beneficiary of the project LIFE-FOODWASTEPREV (LIFE15 GIE/HU/001048). The Hungarian Agriculture Minister, Dr. István Nagy welcomed the participants and Dr Gyula Kasza of the national authority gave an overview of the Hungarian perspective at the meeting.

The European Commission presented its policy response, with Commissioner for health and food safety Vytenis Andriukaitis. Also, representatives of several LIFE projects from across the EU that have addressed the problem of food waste gave brief summaries of their achievements and lessons learned.
