Every year, the European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment organizes the EU Green Week to debate and discuss European environmental policy. This event attracts policy makers, leading environmentalists and stakeholders across Europe and the whole world. This year the EU has been supporting nature, environment and climate action for 25 years. To celebrate this milestone the LIFE community is organizing a series of events around Europe during May 2017. One of those events is the EU Green Week which is held in Brussels from 29 May to 2 June.
The theme of the Green Week was “Green Jobs for a Greener Future” and focused on how EU environmental policies are creating green jobs, and also highlighted the demand for new types of green skills in many sectors. On May 31 an information session on LIFE projects was held during which participants learn about the opportunities for project funding under the 2017 call for proposals on close-to-market environmental solutions, biodiversity and climate change adaptation and mitigation. Two representatives of LIFE REFRESHMENT, as well as two representatives of the LIFE BEVERAGE project, attended this meeting.
In the afternoon, a networking session was attended in which potential partners could meet and exchange ideas about possible future collaborations.
