On 18 May we had the pleasure to welcome a delegation of the European Commission to our offices for a very successful meeting and tour of the Leuven brewery. The delegation consisted of 15 members of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment. The visit took place as part of the European Commissions’ revision process of the “Industrial Emissions Directive”, for which the EC showed their interest to deepen their understanding about the initiatives that major companies in the food, drink & milk sector put in place in order to reduce their environmental footprint.
During a two hour meeting we presented our environmental goals as well as a selection of key projects on energy management, water saving and green logistics. Special attention went to both LIFE projects running at our facilities, LIFE Beverage and LIFE Refreshment which were presented to the representatives of the European Commission and were received with great interest and constructive exchanges. The meeting was followed by a tour of the brewery and ended with an inspection of the quality of our beers.
