LIFE REFRESHMENT AT INNOV’8 CONFERENCE

LIFE REFRESHMENT AT INNOV’8 CONFERENCE

In November, Jorge Gil-Martinez made a very successful presentation of the LIFE REFRESHMENT technology innovation in the high level EU event “Innov’8”, as part of the “INNOVATION IN HEALTH, NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE” panel.

A coherent fight against litter

AB InBev is very much aware of the empty beer cans that negligent consumers dump on the streets or in nature. The brewery now addresses this environmental problem on three domains.

A nutritional drink based on saved grains

Until recently, AB InBev only sold the main by-product resulting from brewing operation, the so-called spent grains, to be used for animal feed. A sin, according to Dr. Jorge Gil-Martinez, because the fibres and proteins from these grains are particularly nutritious and therefore suitable for human consumption. He came to startling new discoveries.

The unique DNA of AB InBev

Stuart MacFarlane has worked for more than 25 years for the company that is now AB InBev. He started his career at Bass, a small British brewery, which later became part of the then European brewer Interbrew. In 2008, he witnessed the birth of AB InBev; a result of InBev’s combination with the American Anheuser-Busch (known for Budweiser). MacFarlane stepped up as AB InBev’s European Zone President in 2012. Since then, he has experienced first-hand what it means to live the company’s culture, and to leverage it as an enabler for transformation.

AB InBev Scoops CDP’s 2017 Europe Water Award

CDP (formerly the Climate Disclosure Project) – a global organization for data-driven solutions to climate change and related environmental threats, opportunities and impacts – has acknowledged AB InBev’s efforts on water stewardship across its global operations. This November in Brussels we accepted CDP’s 2018 Europe Water Award, highlighting our determination to reduce water usage across its value chain as a best practice amongst the continent’s major corporations towards a low-carbon, zero-deforested and water secured economy.

AB InBev is Putting Sustainable Sourcing on the Menu

AB InBev is Putting Sustainable Sourcing on the Menu

The global food system is under increasing pressure. Factors like heightened weather unpredictability and population increase add insecurity to food production schedules. In Europe, consumers and policy-makers continue to put pressure on producers to more sustainably plant, produce, process, label and distribute food and drinks. European governments are responding with actions like France’s Special Convention on food or Europe’s proposed Common Agricultural Policy.
