“Intermodal Transportation”: The Route To a Sustainable Future

“Intermodal Transportation”: The Route To a Sustainable Future

“Green logistics” – perhaps more appropriately called “greener logistics” – has become a catchword in the transportation industry and a major focus of our company. In 2014, we became the first in the brewing industry to set out a global commitment on this topic, aiming for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in our logistics operations by 15% per hectolitre sold. Striving for continuous improvement to deliver this target requires innovation and strong partnerships. In this blog post, I will introduce you to some of our intermodal transportation* projects, which focus exactly on these areas.

With the Water We Save, We Help the People Who Need It Most

Water, the main ingredient to brew our beers, is a scarce resource and as you might have been reading in earlier blogs, we’re proud to be industry leader with a water usage ratio of 3,2 liter per liter of beer brewed. We take our responsibility to use this vital resource to mankind wisely, but also want to move beyond and share part of the water we save with the people who need it most.

World Environment Day 2015: Making an impact inside and outside our brewery walls

Today, we celebrate World Environment Day!
Since 2009, AB InBev participates in the United Nations’ World Environment Day (WED), an annual event that focuses on positive environmental action. As a company, we take action to decrease our environmental footprint every day throughout the year. On WED, we emphasize these activities and encourage our staff to lend a hand.

Our Work to Help Reduce Alcohol-Related Harm: Taking Stock

Our Work to Help Reduce Alcohol-Related Harm: Taking Stock

As members of the European Alcohol Health Forum (EAHF), we’ve worked in recent years to achieve ambitious commitments by undertaking concrete actions to address alcohol-related harm. And to ensure our words have turned into actions, we’ve asked PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to independently audit our progress. The results of that audit have just been published and we wanted to share it with you.

Better Regulation: from Theory to Practice

Better Regulation: from Theory to Practice

Last week’s ‘Better Regulation package’ is, rightly, the talk of the town. Given EU citizens’ alarming levels of scepticism, even cynicism, towards the EU, it is high time for the Commission to consider how it can make EU law-making more accountable to citizens and ensure it is seen to add value.

We’ve proudly released our 2014 Global Citizenship Report

Have you already read our new Global Citizenship Report? If you did, you would have definitely noticed our excitement around the achievements and progress on our Global Responsible Drinking Goals, Global Environmental Goals and our GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attainment for our pledges signed by bartenders, wait staff and store clerks around the world, whom we trained on the responsible serving and selling of alcohol beverages.

OECD finds self-regulation can help fill "regulatory gaps"

As the European Parliament and stakeholder groups push for a comprehensive new European Strategy on reducing alcohol-related harm, it’s only natural to ponder over how that plan might look. As we have noted on this blog before, the Latvian EU presidency consider this one of their priorities. And we are as curious as anybody to see what the European Commission might present at next week’s informal meeting of EU Health Ministers in Riga.

The die has been cast in the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment and Public Health: On 31 March, Committee members adopted a resolution on the EU Alcohol Strategy and at AB InBev, we’re happy that their efforts are moving this debate forward.
